Disability Insurance

Disability insurance is a type of coverage that replaces a portion of your income if you become unable to work due to illness or injury—either short-term or long-term.

Here’s what you need to know:

What It Covers:
   •    Illnesses (e.g., cancer, mental health conditions, chronic diseases)
   •    Injuries (e.g., accidents, back problems, surgery recovery)
   •    Both physical and mental conditions that prevent you from working

How It Works:
   •    If you’re unable to work, disability insurance pays monthly income benefits, usually around 60–85% of your regular earnings.
   •    Policies can be short-term (a few months) or long-term (years or until retirement age).

Why It Matters:
   •    Your income is your most valuable asset.
   •    Even if you’re young and healthy, accidents or illnesses can happen unexpectedly.
   •    Disability insurance helps cover rent, groceries, bills, childcare, and more—so you can focus on healing, not stressing.

Real Talk:

You insure your car, your phone, and your home—why not insure your paycheck?
